About & how we research

Grounds and Gadgets is a small, independent UK website about coffee machines and kitchen gadgets. We started it because buying a coffee machine or air fryer usually means wading through spec sheets, conflicting “best of” lists and RRPs that nobody actually pays.

How we research

Our guides are researched buying guides, not hands-on lab tests. We say so on every page. We don't claim to have tested a product unless we actually have. For each guide we:

• shortlist products that are genuinely on sale in the UK right now
• check specifications against manufacturer and retailer listings, and flag it when sources disagree
• read independent hands-on testing from UK publications such as Which?, The Guardian, Expert Reviews, TechRadar, Ideal Home and Good Housekeeping, and link to it so you can read more
• note the downsides and who each product isn't for, not just the highlights
• record the date we checked prices and describe them as approximate, because prices change all the time

What we don't do

• We don't make up test results, star ratings, quotes or reviews.
• We don't reproduce Amazon customer star ratings or reviews.
• We don't accept payment to include or rank a product.

Spotted a mistake?

Prices and stock change quickly, and manufacturers update models. If something looks out of date, we'd like to fix it. We review our guides regularly and update the “last updated” date when we do. Email us at groundsandgadgets@gmail.com.
